Basic Skills Math

Welcome back to school!
Improving your child’s math skills can be a lot of fun for parents and their children if families think of daily life, mathematically.
When going to the grocery store compare prices, recognize different quantities, and find the best price.  When working on a construction project find the perimeter of a room that needs new trim, a yard that needs new fencing, or a driveway that needs new railroad ties.  You may have to figure the area of a room for carpeting, or the floor area for new tiles.
Schedules are typically set at this time of year.  Help your children apply their skills in telling time, figuring elapsed time, and reading a calendar.  How many days in a week?  How many days/weeks/ months in a year?
Involve your children and “DO THE MATH”!
