The Parsippany - Troy Hills Township Schools offer a full day kindergarten program for all youngsters who will be five years of age on or before October 1‘ of the year they enter school. All students are to be registered at their home school and will attend that school if they are among the first fifty children registered. The district employs a class size policy in kindergarten which states that at no time will any kindergarten class exceed twenty-five students. This policy provides for the best possible educational program for all our children as they enter the Parsippany schools.

To maintain all kindergarten classes at twenty-five students it is necessary to have any children registered after the available slots are filled attend another school in the district. Because it is uncertain which of our ten elementary schools will have openings in their kindergarten classes until late in the summer, parents of “overflow” children will not be notified as to which school their child will attend until the last week in August. The district will provide transportation for all “overflow” students to and from the receiving school. A waiting list will be maintained at each home school and parents will have the option of returning their child to that school at any point during the year should a slot become available. All children will attend their home school in first grade and throughout the remainder of their elementary school years.

The kindergarten teachers in all of our schools follow an identical curriculum. They have all received the same training. Each of our schools and indeed each of our kindergarten classes are places where children thrive both educationally and emotionally. I am certain that your child’s kindergarten experience will be special regardless of the school they attend.

Sincerely,
Todd Ricker
Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources
